Set against the stark silence of the French Alps, this winter tale follows an outsider who slowly becomes entangled in a world where belief and reality begin to blur.
On a harsh winter night in 1899, Aimée arrives in a remote mountain village in the snow-covered French Alps. She is a young, progressive teacher, but in this community, isolated by snow and tradition, faith and legends prove just as powerful as reading and arithmetic. Undeterred by her reception, she sets out to challenge both illiteracy and deeply rooted superstition. With every snowfall, Aimée becomes more involved, while at the same time a growing, sensual restlessness takes hold of her. When an avalanche sweeps away a young villager, reality begins to shift and the fragile balance is disrupted.
What follows is a poetic, unsettling, and at times claustrophobic winter folk drama, where desire, fear, and superstition merge with the overwhelming force of nature.
