Iedere maand vertonen we in samenwerking met Movies that Matter en de lokale Amnesty Internationalgroep de mooiste documentaires en speelfilms over mensenrechten. Op dinsdag 19 maart: documentaire Photophobia. Na afloop is er een nagesprek met enkele Oekraïeners die in Hilversum zijn opgevangen.
Op een koude ochtend in februari arriveren de 12-jarige Niki en zijn familie bij het Kharkiv metrostation. Dit wordt hun schuilplaats voor de oorlog die buiten woedt. Voor Niki’s familie is daglicht synoniem aan gevaar, en de jongen leeft in het neonlicht van het metrostation, niet in staat om de schuilplaats te verlaten. Oneindig dwalend langs de legen metro’s en volle perrons, ontmoet hij Vika (11) en een nieuwe wereld gaat voor hem open. Terwijl ze steeds hechter worden, vinden de kinderen de moed om de zon op te zoeken.Bij deze film verzorgt de lokale Amnesty Internationalgroep een inleiding of nagesprek. Bij deze voorstelling zal een nagesprek worden gehouden met mensen uit Oekraïne die in Hilversum zijn opgevangen.

On a cold February morning, 12-year-old Niki and his family arrive at the Kharkiv metro station to take shelter from the terrifying war raging outside. For Niki's family, daylight is synonymous with mortal danger, and the boy is not allowed to leave the station premises, living under the constant glow of their neon lights. While aimlessly wandering around the abandoned cars and full platforms, Niki meets Vika (11), and a new world opens up to him. As their bond strengthens, the children find the courage once again to feel the sun on their faces.
After the film the local Amnesty International group will organise a conversation with a group of Ukrainian refugees who now live in Hilversum.
