De grote winnaar van de felbegeerde Oscars 2024 is Oppenheimer! De productie ontving maar liefst zeven gouden beeldjes, waaronder Beste Film, Beste Regisseur (Christopher Nolan) en Beste Mannelijke Hoofdrolspeler (Cillian Murphy). En de uitreiking had een Nederlands tintje – cinematograaf Hoyte van Hoytema mocht een Oscar in ontvangst nemen voor Beste Cinematografie (Oppenheimer).
Naast Oppenheimer viel ook Poor Things flink in de prijzen (o.a. voor Beste Vrouwelijke Hoofdrol voor Emma Stone) en werd het The Zone of Interest bekroond voor Beste Internationale Film. The Boy and the Heron werd bekroond tot Beste Animatiefilm, Anatomy of a Fall tot Beste Originele Scenario en American Fiction tot Beste Bewerkte Scenario.
